Xiluodu – Zhejiang ±800kV UHVDC transmission project

Description

As the second one —the Southern Hami-Zhengzhou project being the first rated at 8 GW, the highest capacity worldwide, this project is built to meet the power shortage of Zhejiang and boost its economy. Transmission lines totaling 1680km pass through 5 provinces from Xiluodu Hydropower plant in Southwest China to the eastern load center.

Construction of this project not only promotes the exploitation of clean energy in China’s southeast, it also contributes to better resource allocation in a broader area and helps to achieve even development of regional economies.

Upon completion, this link will transfer clean hydropower amounting up to 4*1010 kWh per year, which is 12.28 million tons of coal equivalent, and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 34million tons annually. This project is put into operation on Jul. 9 2014.

C-EPRI is responsible for the design, supply and commissioning of converter valves with cooling system for Pole 2 of Shuanglong Station. Counting Jinping-Sunan project and Southern Hami-Zhengzhou project, this is the third time C-EPRI applies A5000 valve technology.
